Match report Worly welcomed Earl Stonham to Bedfield on one of the hottest days of the year hoping to repeat the result from earlier in the season. Dan P won the toss and again elected to bat in the dry conditions with a good wicket and fast outfield. However, Worly struggled initially and soon found themselves 31 for 4 in the 8th over but the 5th wicket pair of Harry D and Harry W stabilised the situation and began to impose themselves on the visitor's attack. After a partnership of 82, Harry W was unfortunately run out for an aggressive 66. This brought Dan P to the wicket and the captain continued this season's good form before falling for an well made 41 out of a partnership of 53. Harry D continued to bat sensibly while runs were plundered at the other end with Harry N adding a quick fire 17. Given the heat, the final total of 220 was well above par with Harry D just missing out on another half century. In the reply, Harry N and Percy opened the bowling with the latter continuing his fine form of late cleaning bowling the opener for a duck. However, the visiting batsmen dug in and wickets proved hard to come by as Dan used the options available to him. All credit to the Worly bowlers as they stuck to their task with Harry N and Alfie both picking up 3 wickets each. John and Dan P picked up the final 2 wickets, thus securing a 57-run win and 20 welcome points. Another strong home performance with notable performances from the 3 Harrys (Dyer, Williamson and Nesling) and Alfie, again proving to be a very valuable bowling asset in this year's dry condition. Next week, Worly travel to Sudbury to take on their 3rd team.
