Dunmow II v Worlingworth Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 14 Aug 2021 at 1pm
Worlingworth Cricket Club Lost by 9 wkts

Match report The final away game in Essex and again the 10 men of Worly departed pointless. With a number of the players delayed due to traffic, Dan unfortunately lost the toss and was asked to bat. The innings never really recovered from the loss of 2 early wickets. Simon batted fluently for a well made 25 and when supported by a patient 22 from Steve looked as though he may wrestle control of the game from the hosts but a flurry of wickets meant that it was left to some late order hitting from Dan to give the score some respectability. A score of under a hundred was never enough given the fast dry conditions of the pitch and outfield, and so it proved. Given the modest target, the Worly bowlers were excellent with Dunmow only confirming their victory in the 30th over. The attack was hampered by an injury to Dale, breaking down in his 3rd over. This did however give an early bowl for Percy who made a very promising start and took the only wicket on debut. All in all not as one sided as Worly previous pointless trips to Essex but a disappointing loss nonetheless and probably an end to any thoughts of promotion with 2 games remaining.
