Match report On another blistering hot day, Worly travelled to Bardwell hoping to inflict a third loss of the season on the hosts. Dan P won the toss and, with an excellent pitch and fast, bone-dry outfield, elected to bat. Unfortunately Sam fell to the first ball of the innings to an fantastic catch from the keeper. However, Harry joined Percy and the two consolidated before accelerating the scoring. After last week's half century Percy again looked assured with great support from Harry. Indeed, it was a surprise after a partnership of 82 to see Harry bowled in the 21st over. Sadly Percy was run out shortly afterwards and the innings subsided from there. Other than a few lusty blows from John and DK, Worly struggled to move the score on and, against an accurate but non threatening attack, gave up their stumps on too many occasions with a total of 131 unlikely to challenge the hosts. However, as it turned out, it did challenge the hosts and without their professional scoring a well-made 74 not out, a tight game may have resulted. Percy's excellent opening spell caused the Bardwell batsmen a number of problems; however, having been reduced to 6 for 2, the batsmen were content to see him off while attacking Harry N at the other end. A third - to a brilliant, low caught and bowled by Sam - and fourth wicket were finally taken but not before the game was out of Worly's reach. A disappointing result given halfway position in the Worly innings and the first 6 overs of the reply; however, a number of strengths to take into the next game particularly some excellent stops in the outfield, Percy's all round display and more mature batting from Harry D.
