Match report Worly welcomed high-flying Bury 3s to Bedfield having unfortunately conceded the reverse fixture at the start of the season. With a strong batting line-up, a good pitch and fast outfield, Sam had no hesitation in electing to bat on winning the toss. His confidence was well founded as he was joined by Percy in an excellent opening stand of 89 from the first 15 overs before both fell in quick succession but not before Percy had passed 50, to add to his 84 at Chappel. This brought together the 2 main batsmen for the last month, Ed and John, who continued their brilliant recent form. The pair were not broken until the last over after a fantastic partnership of 178 with John this time the main aggressor scoring a magnificent century inside 27 overs. Ed was bowled having passed 50 for the 4th time this season to add to his 2 centuries and dropped his average from 220 to 165 in the process! Dale added a couple of lusty blows at the end, leaving Bury an unlikely target of 290 to win. With such a large total in the dry conditions, spin was going to be crucial in Bury's chase and so it proved. Harry accounted for the 2 openers in a excellent opening spell with Dale before it was left to the spin of Alfie and Dexter to take the next 7 wickets as Bury never really looked like chasing Worly's huge total. Indeed, the innings fell away with the last man run out with 140 still required. A strong bowling performance all round with Alfie leading the show with his first 5 wicket haul for the Club. Worly travel to Bardwell next week as they look to repeat the result of earlier in the season and inflict only a third loss on the league leaders.
