Match report On a lovely sunny afternoon Worly travelled to Sudbourne, the bottom side, looking for a win to strengthen their mid table position in the League. Dan P and Simon both returned to the side after recent holidays and Dan's first act on his return was to lose the toss with Sudbourne opting to field. The host's bowlers made a steady start and the scoring didn't pass 3 runs per over for the first 20 overs with wickets falling at regular intervals. Indeed, when John fell for 30 in the 24th over the score stood at 78 for 5 with Worly in danger of not setting a competitive total. However, DK was joined by Alfie and they set about taking the game away from Sudbourne. Unfortunately, with a respectable total in sight, Alfie fell for 41 at the end of the 38th over leaving Harry N and DK to accelerate the scoring with 49 runs plundered from the final 7 overs. DK fell just before the end for a well made half century. In response, Sudbourne Hall's batsmen struggled against Alfie and the usual miserly Simon. Again wickets fell regularly with Simon picking up 3 victims, all bowled. With 5 wickets down for 59 at the end of the 25th over, the hosts required 140 from the final 20 overs and seemed intent on collecting batting points rather than chasing the target down. Despite regular changes in the attack, Worly struggled to gain a 6th wicket, it eventually falling at 129 in the 42nd over. The two not out batsmen then saw out the final 3 overs. While disappointing not to pick up further wickets, Worly stuck at the task and collected 18 points from a deserved victory. Next week sees the visit of high-flying Chappel and Wakes Colne to Bedfield.
