Match report After the soaring temperatures of the previous day, Worly welcomed Kesgrave to Bedfield on a cool day with rain never too far away. With Dan away on holiday and Rob injured, Sam took the reins with his first act being to lose the toss, the visitors opting to field. The start was briefly delayed by a shower before Worly unfortunately lost a wicket in the first over. This brought Ed to the wicket and he was to stay until the end of the innings, scoring a magnificent 137 in the process. The highest league score since the days of Rob Von Elling. Ed was ably supported by Eric in a 2nd wicket partnership of 76 before the latter fell just short of his half century. The next partnership went one step further with Ed and Harry D (42) adding 149 in 23 overs as Worly accelerated to an above par score of 257. Looking to push for the win, Worly made a great start to the Kesgrave innings with Harry N on a hat-trick in the 4th over. However, like the Worly innings, the visitors were able to build on the early setback and the 3rd wicket was not to fall until the score reached 121 in the 24th over. Two further wickets fell just before the rain returned with the score at 170, the visitors still requiring 88 runs from the final 12.3 overs. Unfortunately, the rain continued for a lengthy spell and it was decided that no further play was possible. Disappointing as a close finish was on the cards. Worly had been 144 for 2 at a similar stage and the Kesgrave captain was unbeaten, just short of his century so a run rate of 7 was well within Kesgrave's grasp but the loss of their captain would surely have turned the game in Worly's favour.
