Match report After a disappointing trip to West Bergholt last week, Worly returned to winning ways in a home game against an understrength Braintree side, Dan lost the toss and the visitors opted to field on a bright, warm afternoon. Rob and Sam started cautiously before Sam took control of the bowling with 3 consecutive boundaries, soon passing 50. Rob fell at 93 quickly followed by Sam at 117 for a well made 71. Ed continued his rich vein of form, scoring at will. He was ably supported by John in a 66-run partnership before taking the game completely away from Braintree in a century stand with Dale, Dale unfortunately falling 2 runs short of a maiden Worly 50. Harry added further quickfire runs alongside Ed who finished on a chanceless 124 not out, matching David Dyer's 124 earlier in the season. In response, Braintree's inexperienced side struggled against an excellent opening spell by Sam B and Dale with wickets falling at regular intervals. The visitors never really came to terms with the task and 2 return catches - the first a full length 'superman' - brought up Dale's 5-for. Dan W and Sam G tightened Worly's grip with Sam finishing off the innings with wickets from consecutive balls. No game next week after Frinton's withdrawal from the league, next up the visit of Kelvedon on 7 Aug.
