Match report More rain as Sudbourne arrived at Bedfield in steady drizzle. It was decided to start on time to see what would happen with the weather but reduce the fixture to 35 overs per side in case heavier showers arrived. Dan again won the toss and decided to bat. David and Rob started brightly on a slow wicket before both fell just before the total reached 50 bringing Nick and Ed to the wicket. Both batted cautiously initially collecting regular singles until they upped the anti seemingly taking boundaries at will. The score had passed 200 before Nick fell for a well made 78 leaving Ed to complete his century in the final over of the 35. Given the slow outfield, 240 was a daunting target and one that Sudbourne never really came to grips with. The change of innings also saw the end of the drizzle and clearer skies. Sam bowled well without much luck while Harry at the other end was a little more erratic but picked up 3 quick wickets, generating pace on a docile wicket in the process. Dan turned to spin after 14 overs with Mark and David bamboozling the batsmen on a number of occasions with both picking up 2 wickets each. Unfortunately the visitor's captain was forced to retire with a nasty cut on his head from a wayward throw followed very quickly by the last 2 wickets falling to consecutive balls with 3.4 overs remaining. An excellent result with a mid innings presentation to David Dyer who leaves Suffolk next week to start a new life in Brighton. Since his return to the Worly fold he has been a strong performer in all aspects of the game whether batting, bowling, fielding or keeping and will be sorely missed. Good luck Dave.
