Match report With the threat of a thunderstorm later in the afternoon, Worly welcomed Abberton for a noon start ahead of the England's Euro quarter-final. As with the away fixture, Dan lost the toss and Worly were inserted again; however, on this occasion on a dry wicket, the tables were turned. The star of the Worly innings was David with a brilliant century in his penultimate game before his move to Brighton. When he fell at 174, the rest of the team and extras had contributed 50. He received excellent support from John but when both fell with a handful of overs remaining, it needed a late cameo from Gino to take the total passed 200 and potentially 5 batting points. In response, the visitors lost 2 quick wickets, shared by Rodders and Sam before a hard hit 3rd wicket partnership threatened to take the game away. However, a change of bowling saw Mark account for the No4 with Rodders bowling the No3 shortly afterwards thus effectively ending the game as a contest. At this stage the only threat was the weather and so it proved as the heavens opened just after Mark had taken the team's 6th wicket. A nervy wait followed as the rain continued for 30 mins but eventually the storm cleared and the sun appeared for the first time. The covers had done their job and the game recommenced after an hour's stoppage. With the game up, Abberton were intent on collecting batting points but Mark backed by Harry chipped away to take the final wickets for an excellent win. Another impressive Worly bowling performance with Dan and John not required to turn their arm over. Mark was the pick with a well-deserved 5 wickets but it was his superman catch in the gulley off Harry's bowling that took all the plaudits to cap off an excellent day in the field.
