Frinton v Worlingworth Cricket Club Ladies T20 on Sun 14 Jul 2019 at 10 am
Worlingworth Cricket Club Lost

Match report On an exciting day for English cricket nine intrepid Worly players headed south of the border into the wilds of Essex and were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Frinton pitch in the sunshine – and the size of the boundary! After a delayed start due to Frinton’s Captain’s late night, Worly lost the toss and batted first.
A strong start from opening pair Tamsin & Evie saw the boundary cause no issue for Tamsin when she retired on 33 after scoring her 7th four on 29 runs. A good showing from Evie with 9 runs before being caught. As is often the case, our more inexperienced players (myself included!) struggle to score with inconsistent bowling. Kate & Emma Ford and I were all bowled for just 6 runs between us. Fiona was looking strong before being caught. Fi’s sister Kate Hind managed a run before the end of the innings. We finished on 100.
On to our fielding. We certainly scared them when Tamsin dispatched Frinton’s batsman 1 and 3 with her first two balls! Our issue with Tamsin is that balls not stopped by the wicket keeper (and Emma did a stirling job!) often go for a four on a bye plus runs for the opponents. We need to work on our fielding, especially long barriers, backing up and field closer and with more focus. It didn’t help we had two of their team of 11 fielding for our team of 9. It will all come with practise. Katie Davy had a really great morning, with a wicket and a great catch, well done Katie. A great call from Kate Hind saw their 6th batsman out LBW.
Again, a game won or lost on extras. In 20 overs we had 52 runs and they gave us 6 runs on byes and 42 in wides and no balls. In 16 overs before they overtook our score, they managed 47 runs but we gave them 16 runs on byes and 38 wides and no balls.
It was a really enjoyable match and we took a lot of positives away with us. Six of us and scorer Stuart Ford went for a swim in the sea and fish and chips before returning home in time for the grand finale of the World Cup. A good day all round and played in great spirit, with all the team supporting and encouraging each other. Looking forward to Sunday!
My player of the match was split between Tamsin and Katie D. Well done girls.
