Worlingworth Cricket Club Lost by 150 runs

Match report September arrived at Bedfield along with West Bergholt, bringing a brisk Northerly wind and temperatures barely into double figures. Rodders duly lost the toss (is anyone counting?) and Worly were asked to field. Hugo and Harry started very well beating the bat on numerous occasions before Harry deservedly bowled one of the openers. However, things changed with the arrival of the No 3 who punished anything short or over-pitched and the game started to go away from Worly with the bowlers never really regaining control, although Hugo's return at the end did limit the damage to 260. Given the score, the fielding was generally sound with excellent catches taken by Dan P and Hugo. Chasing such a target, Worly needed a strong start and that was achieved, Eric and Dom at the crease with 46 on the board in under 8 overs; however, 46 for 1 soon became 68 for 5 with the game all but over. The score limped to 110 before Rodders was last man out thus ending a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Worly. Next week sees Braintree as the final visiors to Bedfield for the season, hopefully the game will see an improvement in the Worly performance and the weather. Who knows, we might even win the toss!
