Match report With Rodders out injured, Eric picked up the reins and started off where Rodders left off losing the toss with Frinton opting to bat. Worly started off well taking 3 early wickets and having a number of close LBW shouts. However, the Frinton Nos 4 and 5 slowly started to take control reaching 97 by drinks. Unfortunately a 4th wicket was proving elusive and the 2 batsmen were scoring nearly 10 an over with a mixture of some good shots and some lusty hitting. Hugo eventually bowled the No 5 for his first Worly wicket on his debut. Unfortunately Frinton had set a solid foundation which enabled their No 6 to attack from his first ball. He hit 5 big sixes and when he didn't find the middle the ball always seemed to fall safe. Meanwhile the No 4 was approaching his century and secured it with 3 overs remaining. A 5th wicket was claimed in the final over but not before the score had reached 291, the last 15 overs realising 142 runs. In response, Worly made a reasonable start but lost both Rob and David inside the first 10 overs. Matt then joined Ed taking the attack to the bowlers with the 2 adding 74 until, the ball before drinks, Matt was caught for a well made 50. A middle-order collapse then followed with Worly's 97 for 2 quickly becoming 102 for 7. Fortunately with a long tail, the situation was stabilised by Dan and Mark, batting carefully initially then scoring a series of boundaries before Dan fell for an excellent 50. Mark then insured that the total passed 200 for a 5th batting point before falling to a catch in the final over. A disappointing game where, with a bit of luck, the target could have been considerably lower but fair play to Frinton's middle order who ultimately took the game away from Worly in the final 15 overs.
