Worlingworth Cricket Club 1st XI v Great Bromley on Sat 13 Jul 2019 at 1300
Worlingworth Cricket Club Lost by 53 runs
Match report
After a week's break, Worly welcomed Gt Bromley to Bedfield hoping to overturn the league's top team. Rodders lost the toss and the visitors elected to bat. Unfortunately the course of the game was set in the first 12 overs with Gt Bromley adding 100 thanks to some generous Worly bowling and fielding. However, Dan and John managed to pull the scoring rate back and removed the 2 openers. The visitors then consolidated before accelerating the score in the final 10 overs aided by some indifferent fielding. Two late wickets gave Worly a 2nd point but didn't hide a disappointing day in the field, particularly the 49 extras. In response Worly started positively with Rob and David bringing up 50 within the first 8 overs. David continued to take the attack to Gt Bromley making 63 before being one of 3 quick wickets to leave Worly 103 for 4. A partnership of 69 between Eric and John kept Worly in the game; however, both fell as the required rate passed 9 an over. Some late hitting from Dan pushed the score passed 200 to ensure the full 5 batting points but the last wicket soon fell, leaving Worly 53 runs short. A good effort to try and chase down the highest target of the season but ultimately the damage had been done in the field.
