Match report Finally, after weeks of trying, Rodders finally won the toss and, on an uneven pitch, elected to bat! The Yoxford young opening bowlers put the ball in the right place and, with the help of some irregular bounce, soon had Worly 38 for 7. Fortunately Eric and Rodders were able to dig in at that stage and started to accelerate the scoring, almost doubling the score in the next 7 overs. However, Eric and Harry N then fell in the same over leaving Worly still well short of the 1st batting point (100) with one wicket remaining. Step forward the captain - Rodders took control of the situation, mixing some clever running with a few lusty blows, passing 50 with a 2nd six. He was ably supported by Dexter who played his part in a stand of 69 which ultimately proved crucial. In response, the hosts were very cautious in the face of some accurate bowling from Rodders and Sam C, the latter showing that he had lost none of his pace during his recent absence. They were ably backed up by Harry N who, although a little erratic, showed good pace and picked up 4 wickets. There was a late scare as Trimby's quickfire 26, including 2 huge sixes, and a number of wides (30 in total) pushed the score toward the hundred; however, Trimby's wicket virtually ended the game as the final 3 wickets added only one more run. Overall a disappointing game but a vital 20 pts. Rodders' 68 and his masterminding of the last wicket partnership being the telling factors.
