Match report After a week of torrential rain, the game was in question right up to the start; however, with the forecast of brighter weather later the game went ahead. With the sodden outfield and damp wicket, the toss was crucial. Rodders lost it and Worly were inserted. Graham went early before Rob and Ed started to pinch singles but one too many with the former run out by a direct hit. Eric helped Ed stabilise the situation before being caught at mid on, one of 3 similar dismissals in quick succession as the batsmen struggled with the slow wicket. Ed continued to accumulate runs helped by Rodders then Katie before he unleashed a final attack on the bowlers passing 50 in the process before he was stumped going for another big hit. Given the attritional nature of the cricket, 132 was an acceptable total having been 58 for 4 at drinks. East Bergholt found things equally difficult, particularly in the face of some excellent bowling from Rodders - 15 overs for 16 runs and 3 wickets. Ironically with a couple of wickets from Matt, the visitors also found themselves 58 for 4 at drinks. However, the main difference was that batting conditions were improving with the forecast sun finally arriving. Worly claimed one more wicket but East Bergholt crept home with 4.5 overs remaining, taking advantage of the end of Rodders' spell and Worly going down to 9. All in all, a good effort by a depleted Worly, particularly Ed and Rodders, but in the end the toss was the telling factor. Worly travel to Mildenhall next week to take on their IV team.
