Frinton III v Worlingworth Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 04 May 2019 at 1300
Worlingworth Cricket Club Lost by 150 runs
Match report
After Storm Hannah last week, Worly departed Bedfield in a hail storm arriving at a damp cold Frinton with the prospect of regular showers. The captains reduced the game to 35 overs a side after which Rodders lost the toss and the hosts elected to bat. Despite a couple of early wickets and another good opening burst from Harry, Frinton had passed the 100 mark before the first rain break. Two further breaks followed with the captains electing to take tea on the second occasion with 5 overs remaining of Frinton's 35. After tea, with a wet ball, Worly struggled to complete the 5 overs and the hosts added 46 runs to finish with what was considered an over par, but getable, target at 6 an over. However, it didn't play out as expected as Frinton's bowlers used the dry new ball to cause havoc with the first 4 Worly wickets falling for 2 runs with the batsmen caught behind off the gloves as judging the bounce became virtually impossible. At 23 for 8, Eric and Rupert were finally able to offer some resistance before Eric fell for a well made 27. Katie, on her debut, showed promise with gritty support to Rupert as Frinton were forced to use their change bowlers; however, the last wicket fell with 150 still required thus ending a thoroughly miserable day all round. Next week, Worly welcome East Bergholt II for a first home game at Bedfield.
