Match report An early start and a trip to Braintree with the England World Cup tie due to start at 3. The cricket was finally underway just before 11 with 40 overs per side. Braintree, having won the toss, put Worly into bat on a fast pitch and outfield. The visitors struggled to cope with the extra bounce and were 4 wkts down by drinks at 20 overs. However, Jono arrived at the crease and was the first Worly batsmen to bat with any authority going on to record a well deserved half-century and enjoy the only 50 partnership with Rodders. 188 was a good score but given the conditions 30-40 below par and so it proved. Worly needed early wickets and removed both openers in quick time; however, this brought the Braintree's 1st team experience to the crease and the Nos 3 and 4 essentially took the game away from Worly. Both fell before the end but the damage was done and Worly could not contain the home batsmen who finished the game in style. After playing the league leaders in 2 of the last 3 games, Worly move on to another of the League's high flyers next week with the visit of Easton to Bedfield.
