Ladies team win their first match (see report in Latest News section)

11 Jul 2019

WE WON!!!! Sorry for starting with a spoiler…. What a great match away against Shotley.
We won the toss and elected to field first.
We had a new face this week, welcome to Tracy Nobbs who had a great first outing for us with strong fielding from point, helping me out no end in the my first (and last?) outing as wicket keeper. (Still nursing the bruises courtesy of Tamsin’s bowling!) Some great throw ins from the boundary from Miriam, rejoining us after A-levels. Tamsin’s solid bowling did not give away many extras and she had a great catch and a run out. Lovely wicket from Tabitha and a great call for LBW from Kate H.
On to the batting… Tamsin had a good start with three 4s and run out on 25 runs due to a momentary loss of focus…. Fantastic batting from Kate F, unlucky to be bowled after 26 runs with three 4s. Tracy and I were both batting when we overtook Shotley’s score, managing an asthmatic cheer!
A game once again won or lost on extras – we gave away 41 (much improved!) to their 62.
My player of the match was Kate Ford. She really settled into her bowling and her batting was excellent.
Our first ever win. Well done team! So proud 😊
Thankyou to Eric Davy for umpiring and Stuart Ford for scoring, your help is always very much appreciated by us all.
